I know honesty is the best policy, but please read:
I was given the option to resign last August, I did.
Two wees ago I had a first interview with a new property that went great and I wasn't asked about my resignation then.
Today I have a 2nd interview (final 2 candidates!) with the property manager.
I am really at a loss of how to answer about the resignation IF he asks me.
REASONS TO BE DISHONEST:
1.My old property can only confirm employment dates and positions... and they DO honor this! I worked there... I know this... and I also tested it with a paid service.
2. My old HR manager is really on my side, and she told me at the time of resignation to "Answer any interview questions any way you want", and "You can tell them you chose to resign". Basically she's saying: feel free to be dishonest. If I'm asked "Were you asked to resign?" I can say "No, I chose to resign" since that's technically what I did, and what I was given permission to say.
REASONS TO BE HONEST:
1. This new property manager for years used to work for my old company, but never at my old property. He certainly may know someone on the inside.
Will he pry? Will he care? Will the insiders talk "off the record"?
2. Being flat out honest might be impressive and honorable.
Anybody been in a similar situation?

Job Interviews Forum - Background Check and No call back??: So on September 24 I had a great intervi...
So on September 24 I had a great interview at a University. I really thought it went well and genuinely had a great time! Three days after the interview, I got a call requesting to do a background check. I have some international qualifications so I knew it would take a little longer than normal, but this is a dream job essentially, so I was willing to be patient. A week ago I got the word that all the background checks had come through and on this past Tuesday I called the HR recruiter to confirm that the checks were verified and to see if anything else was needed from me. She let me know that she was waiting to hear back from the department about "how they wanted to move forward."
This has just been the most backwards experience I have ever had- I've never had a potential employer request to do a background check before making an offer for a position. I'm really unclear how to handle this situation as tomorrow will mark one month since the interview but today is only one week since the background check was completed.
I'm really confused about everything and am looking for some advice. Should I call again next week or at this point should I assume I'm no longer in the running for the position? I thought that normally they only perform background checks on finalists, but perhaps I'm mistaken? I also know that Higher Ed institutional HR is a little slower than industry HR, but I still feel like a month is enough time for me to have heard SOMETHING back from them beyond this waiting period.
I am still applying for other positions in the meantime, of course, but is this typical? Am I overthinking/overreacting?

Need your advice on a recent job interview I had with Bankers Life. I initially met with two manger in a conference room for a half hour and was then passed on to the VP for 15 minutes. He said we will get back to you in 2 weeks with our decision. The job was just posted and they have many more applicants to weed through. Is it a good sign I met with the VP? Do you you think all candidates meet with him? Just trying to gauge my chances.

Job Interviews Forum - Has an employer ever tell you to "keep looking" after an interview?: I recently applied for a position at thi...
I recently applied for a position at this company that has 2 vacancies. The HR rep called and conducted a telephone interview. He then emailed me a request that I provide 3 previous supervisors contact information as references and that I had a second interview with the CEO. I did as instructed. All of my references informed me that they were called that same day and were asked questions like if I am a good team player, will they rehire me, etc. The day of the interview came and first off, the ceo was late. Then I over heard the staff saying he probably forgot. He came after a while and the interveiw began.
Well, after the interview he said that he can see that I can definatey do the job, that I was at the top 3, and he had a few more to go.......then he told me to keep looking!! No time in my interveiwing history have I been told that. Has anyone else been through this? If so, what was the outcome?
Thanks
Always get the money going in.
Don't fall for the "90 day raise" thing.
You'll hear all these excuses on how you need to work harder, etc. Or no one else got a raise.
that's what i thought too. but i found out if you negotiate a nice starting salary....when profits are down chances are you will be the first getting laid off because of that nice starting salary.
not sure employees can win any longer.

I recently had an interview. The interview lasted about 1 hour and 15 mins. I interviewed with the hiring manager and after he went and got his lead to interview me. During the interview the hiring manager told me that the job is going through the approval process and it will take a couple of weeks before it opens up. But stressed that he will not be interviewing that time. A couple of day s later I checked on my linkedin and saw that the director of sales from the same company reviewed my profile. Is this a good sign that I may have gotten the job. I have confidence that the interview went very well.

Job Interviews Forum - When should I hearback from an employer?: So, I did two rounds of interviews with ...
So, I did two rounds of interviews with both the HR Manager and the CFO. I think I did well since they both responded back to my thank you letters, and they wanted me to fill out a pre-employment screening form and wanted me to provide 3 references. This was on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
My former manager let me know that they called her and she let me know that she provided a great reference for me within the same week on Friday. It is now a week since I interviewed there, and I'm still wondering if I will be hired there? The CFO did mention that they had two top candidates that they were considering, me being one of them.
Tomorrow will be Wednesday, the day I interviewed with the CFO, so is it possible I could be the possible candidate? Don't recruiters start contacting references for only people that they want to hire, and not calling for 2-3 other candidates they like as well?
It's driving me nuts!

Job Interviews Forum - Job Hoax: I have received an email for a job offer...
I have received an email for a job offer pay rate was exceedingly amazing. However I had to sign up by using a Yahoo messenger/IM. And the interviewer ia online waiting for me. I waited 8am everyday no one. finally later on in the week I seen the Nichole volden online I buzzed her. They wrote about company rates and benefits and offer me the job. She then told be come online same time tomorrow for training. Woke up every morning drive to Starbucks and when I got their jerry brown trainer told me wait for a check to buy my equipment company are purchasing from the company funds. I asked what equipment am I needing to buy. The responded with 4 in 1 copier, filing cabinet, apple laptop etc. When I got the check via FedEx I already in mind think its a scam. Lucky thing I called the bank to verified first before going in cause I can be charged for fraud and it came out that the account number and check numbers are made up. I was still trying to get info so I can report them. I called the number that texted me it says please wait while Google tries to connect "Fake" all "Fake". I lies and told them the bank is calling the police saying this check is fake I'm getting arrest they said why? I'll contact the head department to see what going on. Later they said the check bounced, suppose to be deposited in DA ATM n blab blah blah all fake!!

Hi,
I was rehired within 2 weeks of being fired into the same company. Is there a way in terms of public records that someone can (some sort of shared information database) find out that I was terminated? My assumption is that the only way to find out about this fact is from the employer itself. This would imply, that you will need to explicitly ask the employer if the employee was fired. Am I correct?
Thanks

So at the mall they have a new Vinyard Vines clothing store opening up next week and they are holding job interviews. There was 2 manager ladies there and there was 3 of us being interviewed at the same time.
So the question came up from one of the managers- Tell me about a time when you went above and beyond for a customer. My response- I used to work at a supermarket when I was 17 it was my first job ever and one day a customer came to my register and couldn't afford to pay for all of her groceries so I took money out of my pocket and paid the remainder of her total that she could not afford to pay (shocking yes I know but it's the truth). When I told her this story she gave me the strangest look on her face kind of puzzled but the kind of look where you don't know if it's a good or bad look or if you just pretty much shot any chances you had at getting the job. I was nervous and putting me on the spot like that I didn't have much time to think for an answer so that was the first instance I could think of. How did I do? Would you say this was a bad response?

Ok guys and gals I've been a long time reader of this site and just recently got the chance to interview for a security guard position for a semi large group of casino's. The interview only lasted for 15 minstrel and all sounded well. Now that having been Monday at 9am I called back Wednesday around 2am. The HTC lady said that the position had not yet been filled and that they were waiting on a lien to come back. My big question is WTF does a lien have to do with employment. I'm biting at the bit to get this job so to anyone who has good information I just want to thank you for your time.

Job Interviews Forum - 3 weeks since interview and haven't heard anything: Hey everyone, I recently interviewed ...
Hey everyone,
I recently interviewed for an internal position at my company. After the first interview, I didn't hear anything back from the recruiter for over a week. When I followed up with her, she let me know that my second series of interviews was less than 36 hours from then! So I frantically prepared for the second round of interviews, and I think they went well. Since that second round of interviews it has now been 3 weeks since I have heard anything from the recruiter. I even sent her a thank you/follow up email about 10 days ago and have still heard nothing in return.
Is it proper for me to send her ANOTHER follow up? I am still interested in the position, but it is getting a bit ridiculous now. I was even recommended to apply for this job by the actual hiring manager for the new position...and have the blessing of my current manager to make the switch.
I don't want to seem like I am nagging, but I feel that it is only common courtesy that I should have heard a "yes" or "no" by now.
Thank you,
Ops Professional

Job Interviews Forum - Taleo Question: [QUOTE who="Ruby Slippers in Las Vegas, ...
A few years ago Oracle paid 1.9 BILLION for Taleo and while companies love it, applicants for the most part hate it. It really is designed for large companies that get a ton of submissions. Personally, the minute I see the Taleo logo, I pass on the job. You really have to have a 98% skill set match in order to be considered.
My sister's company uses Taleo and if they get 100 submissions, they might look at 20 of them and then call in 10 for interviews. Its pretty brutal.
The best way to pass the taleo resumee scrubber is to look at the job description and make that your resumee. Just reverse engineer it word for word but past tense.

Job Interviews Forum - Hate my job and trying to move on-how do I explain it to prospective employers?: I've been on my new job for only a short...
I've been on my new job for only a short time, turns out it's a complete dysfunctional cluster f. They never trained me, or anyone for that matter, you are left to your own devices to harass your co-workers for help, to show you what to do. The supervisors are completely useless, half of them don't even know how to use the software programs we use. You can't ask for help from the other supervisors when yours is out. The standard procedure is to literally load everyone up with more work than is humanly possibly to complete, and you are terminally behind...there is no catching up. The manager is fully aware of the way it's run, which tells me everything I need to know about my department. Some supervisors have been referred to HR multiple times, yet still employed. I was moved to that team because several people who left it had filed complaints against that supervisor and refused to work on that team any longer due to that supervisor's is horrible-now I get to deal with it. I had no dog in that fight. Everyone hates it. High turnover. Had I known this prior to accepting the offer, I wouldn't have taken it.
How in the world am I to look for a new job and explain why after only a few months there, I am looking for a new gig?
No problem. I am more than happy to share my experience and advice with other people who are trying to improve themselves! Good luck with your job search! You may have dodged a bullet if they reposted the ad. That means that out of all the applicants, not one met their standards. It sounds like a tough work environment. Remember, you are NOT alone in having employers pass you over. I really wanted to work at these two companies and got rejected by both.
Agreed. An ad reposted AFTER you have interviewed is never a good sign. They either didn't find what they wanted or couldn't afford what they wanted.

Job Interviews Forum - How to get a job at a grocery store or retail store?: I'm 20 years old I've been trying to get...
I'm 20 years old I've been trying to get a job in grocery or retail since I was about 16 but I keep ending up working at fast food places. I doubt if anyone reads all of this but thanks for who does :) I would like to put something else on my application (It's not that I think I'm too good to work at fast food.) It's just...I would like a change and like to not smell like fried food when I get home...I've also had pretty bad experiences working in Fast food I recently quit my Mcdonald's job because they were not paying me nor did they have my name in the system. The other Mcdonald's I worked at only gave me three hours to work (if I was lucky.) I got fired from Wendy's because I wasn't making sandwiches fast enough I also worked at an amusement park for seasonal employement (I'm not going into details about that.) And sorry for my typos. Okay so right now I'm not in school I can work full time at any time of day..I sometimes wonder if it's because of what's on google, do employers google peoples names?I've tried over the summer to apply to a shoe store went to an interview I thought it went well and she told me that the position I applied for she wasn't hiring in so I would have to work in the back and anything not having to deal with customers would be great for me, never heard from them and also Food Lion, Krogers and Adels Most of those were job fairs Krogers job fair went terribly the people hiring were in a bad mood, and one of the interviewers mocked the way I spoke They were four of us in one room, and they were about 6 people doing the interviewing. One of the interviewers Kept saying how she couldn't wait to get out of here They took me and another lady out of the room and told us they weren't hiring...the others got to stay inside of the room. I suppose they got the job I'm not sure what I did wrong there I waited 3 hours , they lied saying they were drug testing everyone which turned out not to be true. Does anyone know how to get a job in retail?
